How to Participate

Here is the Hypothetical Case Fact Pattern that forms the foundation of this contest. Read it carefully, as every detail may be significant to your analysis. All issues, arguments, and conclusions you develop should be based solely on the information provided—do not assume facts that are not stated. The goal is to demonstrate how you identify legal issues, interpret the facts, and construct clear, well-reasoned responses using only this scenario as your guide.

This hypothetical case fact pattern is provided exclusively for this contest and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used for any other purpose.

FAQ

Do I need special equipment?

Nope! A self-filmed smartphone video is perfect. 

Will my video be public?

Yes.  By submitting your video you consent to the public viewing of that video.

What happens if I submit late?

Submissions must be received by the deadline — no exceptions.

Will my argument be on behalf of Prosecution or Defense?

You choose which side you wish to advocate for.

How long does my closing argument need to be?

Your closing argument should be a maximum of 8 minutes.

What do I need to include in my closing argument?

You will be evaluated on your ability to persuasively argue the facts of the case and analyze the facts against the elements of the offense.

Can we use AI to assist us?

No you’re closing arguments will be screened for AI use and any AI detections will automatically disqualify you.
